Matchday 9
Tanzanian Premier League
23-24 October 2026
As arguably the team to beat in the
Tanzanian Premier League this season, Steve Barker’s Simba could make it nine wins on the spin this weekend, while reigning league champions Young Africans lick their wounds in second-place.
Sitting at the top of the pile, Simba have won all eight of their Tanzania Premier League matches this season, but none were more important than their 2-1 victory over second-placed Young Africans on 10 October.
Simba will now take on Mbeya City at home on Saturday as they look to add to their 24-point haul during matchday nine.
Mbeya City currently occupies ninth position on the log after taking home just 10 points from eight games. Their inconsistent form this season was summed up in their last three matches, where they recorded consecutive defeats against Polisi Tanzania, Kagera Sugar and JKT Tanzania respectively.

Yanga will hope to re-enter the winning column when they face Dodoma Jiji away on Saturday as they prepare to compete in their eighth league match of the season.
With a game in hand, Yanga currently trails the summit by six points after suffering their first league loss against Simba last time out.
Elsewhere, Polisi Tanzania are scheduled to take on Pamba on Friday, with both teams aiming to overcome stalemates during matchday eight.
Polisi Tanzania recorded a 1-1 draw with Kagera Sugar in their most recent fixture, bringing their points count to 11 in eighth position.
Pamba on the other hand currently finds themselves in 15th spot on five points after noting just one victory in the 26/27 campaign. With three losses in their last five ties, Pamba last tasted victory on 8 October during a 4-0 win over Geita Gold on home soil.
