As one of the most keenly anticipated
Tanzanian Premier League matches in the next couple of days, Simba could record their sixth consecutive win when they face Azam away next Wednesday.
Apart from reigning champions Young Africans, Simba boasts a 100% win rate in the league and currently occupies second on the log with 15 points.
Simba continued to showcase their dominance since their opening day 2-0 away win over Kagera Sugar during matchday one, while they saw off teams such as Pamba, Singida Black Stars and Coastal Union thereafter.
In their most recent league tie, Simba secured a 2-0 win over Geita Gold at home, keeping up with the early pace set by log leaders Young Africans.
Reflecting on Simba’s win over Geita, coach Steve Barker was content with his side’s performance despite needing to make tactical tweaks for the tie.
Barker thus mentioned that he altered his backline for positional dominance, namely with the combination of
Rushin De Reuck and
Nathanial Chilambo.
“We were good in possession, out of possession really good,” Barker said.
“So, really happy with a good solid performance. I’m not one who gives out the way we want to play but obviously Nathanial Chilambo has been helping us with our build up in those positions.
“We changed Ismael Toure’s position a bit because we feel Rushine De Reuck is more comfortable in the middle
“Obviously not having a natural left-sided player. Its just about finding the best positions for the best players we have at our disposal.”
