Tanzanian Premier League - Matchday 5

2024/25 Tanzanian Premier League
Matchday 5

14-16 September 2024

Mashujaa will look to stay in touch with the Tanzanian Premier League leaders when they take on Pamba Jiji at the CCM Kirumba Stadium on Saturday, September 21.

Singida Black Stars went five points clear at the summit after beating Pamba Jiji 1-0 on September 17 to maintain their perfect start to the new season.

Mashujaa also remain unbeaten following their 1-0 victory over Coastal Union on September 13 which sees them occupy second place in the table ahead of Tabora United on goal difference.

Goran Kopunovic's side suffered their first defeat of the campaign in midweek and they have yet to score a single goal after starting off with three consecutive goalless draws.

Tabora United will be keen to keep the momentum going when they host Singida Fountain Gate at the Ali Hassan Mwinyi Stadium on Friday, September 20.

Francis Kimanzi's side lost their opening game of the season, but a 0-0 draw with Tanzania Prisons on September 14 made it three matches unbeaten and took them above Simba up to fourth position.

Kimanzi is keen to keep their undefeated home record intact after stating the importance of the point they earned against Prisons last time out.

"The players have sacrificed themselves, and getting one point against Prisons was not easy considering the strength of our opponent. I'm grateful we secured three points from our previous home game," he said.

"We didn't lose, and that's important. We created chances but didn't capitalise on them. Now, we'll focus on preparing for our next game to get a better result."

Fountain Gate (3rd) remain ahead of Tabora United on goal difference after their 2-2 draw with Dodoma Jiji on September 17.

Meanwhile, Tanzania Prisons will go in search of their first win in 2024-25 when they welcome Dodoma Jiji to the Sokoine Stadium on Saturday, September 21.

Mbwana Makatta's side will be buoyed by their results thus far after picking up a point in each of their opening three outings on the road despite not scoring a goal, but managing to keep three clean sheets.

Prisons (9th) are two points behind Dodoma Jiji (6th) with a game in hand. Mecky Mexime's side are one of seven clubs to have featured four times already in the league.

In other matches taking place around the country, Kagera Sugar (15th) and KenGold (16th) meet in a bottom-of-the-table clash at the Kaitaba Stadium, JKT Tanzania (13th) entertain Kinondoni MC (7th) at the Isamuhyo Stadium and Azam (12th) face Coastal Union (14th) at the Azam Complex Stadium.
