Tanzanian Premier League - Matchday 4

2024/25 Tanzanian Premier League
Matchday 4

14-16 September 2024

With Simba not featuring until next Tuesday, Singida Black Stars have a chance to go six points clear at the Tanzanian Premier League summit this weekend.

The domestic season has yet to get into full swing due to Young Africans' CAF Champions League commitments, while the Msimbazi Reds will be involved in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday.

Singida Black Stars opened up a three-point lead over Fadlu Davids' side with a 2-1 win against Kinondoni MC on Thursday and they will be in action again on Monday against Pamba Jiji at the CCM Kirumba Stadium.

Pamba Jiji (8th) have picked up two points from their opening two matches and will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign when they face Azam on Friday in a quick turnaround of fixtures.

Tabora United also have an opportunity to overtake Simba when they welcome Tanzania Prisons to the Ali Hassan Mwinyi Stadium on Saturday.

Francis Kimanzi's side recorded back-to-back wins against Namungo (2-1) and Kagera Sugar (1-0) to move up to fourth place, level on six points with the Dar es Salaam giants and the head coach has stressed the importance of taking maximum points from their next two home games.

"It's easy to consider them as straightforward, but in reality, they will be challenging, as every team knows the strength of Tabora United," Kimanzi said. "We must perform well to bring joy to our supporters."

Tanzania Prisons have also collected two points from their opening two fixtures and find themselves down in ninth position.

Singida Fountain Gate will be targeting their third straight victory when they host Dodoma Jiji at the Kwaraa Stadium on Sunday.

Successive wins against Namungo (2-0) and KenGold (2-1) saw Singida Fountain Gate climb up to third in the standings, level on six points with Simba and Tabora United.

Dodoma Jiji are a further two points adrift in sixth spot after registering one win, one draw and one loss thus far.

In the other matches taking place on Monday, Kinondoni MC (13th) face KenGold (14th) at the KMC Stadium, while Kagera Sugar (16th) and JKT Tanzania (12th) go head-to-head at the Kaitaba Stadium.
