Matchday 9
25-26 October 2024
The local derby between Singida Black Stars and Singida Fountain Gate takes centre stage on matchday 9 in the
Tanzanian Premier League, with the two teams separated by just three points.
Black Stars lead the way in the standings after a 2-0 win over Namungo on October 20 maintained their unbeaten start to the season, having dropped just two points from their opening seven matches.
Fountain Gate are looking to rebuild some momentum after a 3-2 defeat to Prisons on October 1 arrested a five-game unbeaten run, although they bounced back with a 3-1 success against Kinondoni MC in their next outing.
Mohamed Muya's side have played one game more than their arch-rivals and find themselves three points off the summit in fourth place behind Simba (3rd) on goal difference.

The Bakers have a 100 per cent record this month after securing wins against Namungo (1-0) and Prisons (2-0) to open up a three-point gap to Mashujaa (6th) in fifth position.
KenGold (16th) have found the going tough since being promoted and suffered their sixth defeat in eight matches after falling 3-0 to Mashujaa on October 21.
Then in Saturday's action, Prisons will be desperate to put some distance between themselves and the relegation zone when they host Kinondoni MC at the Sokoine Stadium.
Prisons are perched just above the danger zone in 12th spot after slipping to a 1-0 loss against Simba on October 22 - their third reverse in four encounters.
The Kino Boys have only fared marginally better thus far in 2024-25, with a 3-1 defeat to Singida Fountain Gate on October 21 leaving them 10th in the standings on eight points.
Meanwhile, Dodoma Jiji have a chance to climb above JKT Tanzania when they lock horns at the Jamhuri Stadium.
Both teams have collected just four points from their last four matches, with Dodoma Jiji losing 2-0 to Coastal Union on October 18, while KMC fell to Young Africans by the same scoreline four days later.
JKT (7th) are just one place and point better off than their upcoming opponents after eight rounds, but victory for the Dodoma City outfit could take them level with Mashujaa on 12 points.
