Simba will be looking to keep their
Tanzanian Premier League title hopes alive when they welcome Singida Black Stars to the KMC Stadium on Wednesday, May 28.
The Reds of Msimbazi have managed to stay in touch with league leaders Young Africans after winning their last six outings and scoring 19 goals in the process.
A 2-1 victory over Kinondoni MC on May 11 extended their unbeaten run to an impressive 20 matches and took Fadlu Davids' side within four points of Yanga in second place.
Simba do have a game in hand on their arch-rivals, but Davids is refusing to entertain any talk of winning the league, insisting he will take each of their last four fixtures as they come.
"We are taking it game by game, it is going to be game by game, we can't be talking about the title when we still have a game in hand," the South African said.
"And we still have more matches to play, we just have to take it game by game, we are not looking at the table right now. It is just about getting the three points."
Black Stars will be keen not to let their campaign fizzle out after qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time.
David Ouma's side clinched their place in Africa's second-tier club competition by virtue of Young Africans having beaten JKT Tanzania 2-0 in the FA Cup semi-finals.
With Black Stars and Simba contesting the other semi-final, it effectively means that the two Confederation Cup berths will instead go to the third and fourth-placed teams.
The race for third spot is still up for grabs after a 3-0 victory over Tabora United saw Singida close the gap to Azam to four points in fourth position with a game in hand.
Ouma, who has won six of his opening 11 matches since replacing Miloud Hamdi at the helm in February, expressed pride in the club's historic achievement.
"One of our main goals at the beginning of the season was to finish in the top four and qualify for CAF competitions," the Kenyan said.
"Now that we have achieved that, we are very proud. It's a collective success for the entire technical bench, the club leadership, the players and our loyal fans. We are extremely grateful for how far we have come."
