Tanzanian Premier League

Matchday 14

Singida Black Stars v Simba SC

Airtel Stadium, Mtipa

Wednesday, 11 March, 2026

Kick-off 14:15

Simba SC will look for a return to winning form in the Tanzanian Premier League when they face Singida Black Stars at the Airtel Stadium in Mtipa on the afternoon of Wednesday, 11 March 2026. Kick-off is at 14:15.

Simba are unbeaten in their last seven league outings, but enter this clash on the back of successive 0-0 stalemates away to Dodoma Jiji and arch rivals Young Africans in late February and early March, respectively.

The results have left Wekundu wa Msimbazi in third place on the log, eight points adrift of leaders Yanga, having played one match less. They will be determined to claim victory this midweek and begin eating into their rival’s lead.

But to do that, they will need to improve on their finishing – something coach Steve Barker has identified as a key area of focus: “Our players created many opportunities [in recent matches] but failed to finish effectively,” explained the South African tactician.

“It is something we must address. The technical bench will work on improving finishing so that in the next match we will make better use of the chances we create.”

Black Stars, meanwhile, saw their unbeaten run across all competitions snapped at five matches after they suffered a heavy 3-0 loss at the hands of Young Africans in a league clash last Thursday.

The Mtipa-based club is placed ninth on the Tanzanian Premier League standings – five points short of their upcoming opponents, and having played a game more.

In head-to-head terms, Black Stars and Simba have met in eight league matches dating back as far as 2020. Wekundu wa Msimbazi boasts an unbeaten record, with seven wins and one draw. The Dar es Salaam club claimed a 1-0 home win when the teams last met in the league, in May 2025, thanks to a first-half goal from Stephen Mukwala.

However, the teams’ most recent meeting across all competitions was a semifinal Federation Cup clash, also in May 2025, which saw Stars secure an upset 3-1 triumph on the back of goals from Jonathan Sowah and Emmanuel Keyekeh (two).

Midweek action in the TPL will also feature Dodoma Jiji v FC Azam later on Wednesday, and a Thursday clash between Tanzania Prisons and Young Africans.
