2025/26 Tanzanian Premier League
Matchday 27
17-18 June 2026
With just four rounds left in the 2025-26 season, Young Africans and Simba remain locked in a fierce battle for the Tanzanian Premier League title.
Young Africans will bid to stay in front of their arch-rivals when they make the journey to Fountain Gate on Thursday, June 18.
Yanga allowed Simba to gain ground on them after losing 3-2 at the hands of Dodoma Jiji on March 15, but a 2-0 victory over Mashujaa on June 13 - their third on the spin - kept Abdihamid Moalin's side two points clear of their city neighbours.
Skipper Bakari Mwamnyeto acknowledged that the title race is neck-and-neck, but has urged his team-mates to remain consistent in the run-in to the campaign.
"We know the competition is very tough and every team is fighting to achieve its objectives. The most important thing for us right now is to make sure we win our matches," Mwamnyeto said.
Fountain Gate are fighting just to finish in the top half of the table after winning only two of their last five matches. A 2-0 reverse to Azam on June 12 saw them hang onto 10th place, two points ahead of Mashujaa (11th) and Mtibwa Sugar (12th).
Simba will look to keep pace with the league leaders when they visit relegation-threatened Mbeya City on Wednesday, June 17.
The Reds of Msimbazi have ramped up the pressure on Young Africans by winning their last six games as part of an impressive 21-match unbeaten run, with their most recent result a 2-1 success against Pamba Jiji on June 14.
Clive Barker was named Coach of the Month for May - his third award since taking over the reins at Simba in December - and guided his team to glory in the FA Cup last month.

The Purple Nation are in danger of making a swift return to the Championship League after losing 13 of their opening 26 fixtures, although a 1-0 win over Mtibwa Sugar on June 13 took them within three points of safety in 14th position.
Singida Black Stars will be keen to keep the momentum going when they play host to Dodoma Jiji on Wednesday, June 17.
Muhibu Kanu's side are well placed to finish fourth in the standings and a 2-1 triumph over JKT Tanzania on June 13 made it four wins in their last five outings as they maintained the four-point gap to TRA United.
Dodoma Jiji's form has waned in recent weeks, with a 3-1 loss to struggling Tanzania Prisons seeing them drop down to eighth spot following just one win in their last five games.
JKT Tanzania will be seeking their first win in five matches when they take on Tanzania Prisons on Thursday, June 18.
Wajenga Nchi were in the mix for a top-four finish before three consecutive draws pegged them back and they have dropped to sixth place after a 2-1 defeat to Singida Black Stars on June 13.
Prisons have breathed new life into their survival bid after winning three of their last five encounters, with their 3-1 victory over Dodoma Jiji on June 14 seeing them close within two points of Mbeya City, who occupy the final relegation playoff berth.
Pamba Jiji will be desperate to snap a two-game losing streak when Mtibwa Sugar come to town on Thursday, June 18.
Wana Kawekamo are locked in a battle with Dodoma Jiji and Coastal Union (8th) for seventh position and they remain ahead of Vincent Mashami's side on goal difference after being beaten 2-1 by Simba on June 14.
Mtibwa Sugar find themselves just one point above the danger zone in 12th spot after a 1-0 loss to Mbeya City on June 13 extended their winless tun to three outings.
