2024/25 Tanzanian Premier League
Matchday 1
29 August 2024
Young Africans will finally get their
Tanzanian Premier League title defence underway against Kagera Sugar at the Kaitaba Stadium on Thursday, August 29.
Yanga have yet to kick a ball on the domestic front due to their continental commitments and are two games behind some teams after the new season started on August 16.
Miguel Gamondi's side made an impressive start to their CAF Champions League campaign, beating Burundi's Vital'O 10-0 on aggregate in the preliminary first round to set up a date with CBE of Ethiopia in the second round.
Gamondi guided the Dar es Salaam giants to a third successive title in his first season at the helm and arch-rivals Simba have already put them under pressure by winning their opening two matches.
Kagera Sugar suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at home to Kagera Sugar on matchday 2 and are one of four clubs that failed to pick up any points thus far.
Meanwhile, Kinondoni MC and Coastal Union will also be playing their first match of the season at the KMC Stadium.
Coastal Union were involved in the CAF Confederation Cup, although their journey came to an end in the preliminary first round with a 3-0 loss on aggregate to Bravos do Maquis of Angola.
David Ouma was sacked just two days before the second leg and interim coach Ngawina Ngawina oversaw a 0-0 draw with the Maquisardes on August 25 which was not enough to prolong their stay in the competition.
